Abby & Matt’s Wedding at Lavelle Restaurant in Toronto belongs on the cover of Vogue Weddings. Their bride and groom style is impeccable, the new venue they chose is absolutely stunning, their chuppah sat on top of a glass covered swimming pool, and the dance floor was going strong long into the evening.
Perched on top of the city, Lavelle has long elegant swimming pools, bright blue Miami Beach cabanas lining the deck, and 360 degree views of the city that lets you see the CN tower from almost any angle. The food is fantastic, the décor is so much fun to photograph and lends itself perfectly to a fun and stylish wedding design, and the mixed indoor/outdoor space is perfect for a summer wedding that turns into a fantastic party! Abby & Matt thought the restaurant suited them perfectly on their hunt for a great wedding venue, so theirs was the first wedding ever held up on this gorgeous rooftop. I can’t wait for you to see their bride and groom sunset portraits on the rooftop with the CN tower standing tall in the background. Toronto has the best rooftops for sunset photographs!
Working with an awesome new Toronto event planning team, Riley & Dallas, Abby & Matt created a stylish and fashionable urban wedding. The trendy and modern décor of the venue (picture Miami Beach meets Toronto Skyline) contrasted beautifully with the classic and elegant wedding details they added, including timeless white and green floral arrangements that spiraled up the pillars of their traditional Jewish wedding chuppah, and long harvest tables decorated with billowing floral centerpieces and calligraphy cards. Continuing the contract of modern and vintage, they had a clear plexiglass dance floor made to cover the long pools on the deck, as well as a nostalgic vintage bride and groom cake topper that made it’s first appearance on their grandparents’ wedding cake so many years earlier.
Food arrived on loaded plates to be shared family style down the long hardest tables. The sun set over the city, gilding everything in the restaurant in golden light as champagne flowed and the crowd laughed and cried their way through the speeches. Abby and Matt wanted nothing other than to make sure that everyone was well fed and having a good time.
Personally, my favourite moment of the day was their first look. I can’t wait for you to see the incredible excitement on both of their faces getting to see one another! Their happy, wiggle, golden doodle puppy also arrived shortly after to join in the photographs, and was just as excited as they were about having his own first look with the bride and groom.
The amount of individual style included in this wedding is inspiring. Take a scroll through to see Abby’s gorgeous long gown, and the pop of red incorporated into the groomsmen’s shoes and jackets, reminiscent of something straight out of an Italian film noire movie.
As you scroll through this gallery you’ll be struck by only one thing, the immense happiness of the bride and groom to be together. From their joyful first look, to the heartfelt signing of the ketubah, to the dance floor where they dance the night away surrounded by the city skyline lit up across the horizon, these two are perfectly and infectiously happy. Plus, their cake cutting photographs are some of my favourite yet, they even managed to make this traditional wedding day moment fun and full of life!
