Meghan & Curtis' Relaxed Collingwood Waterfront Wedding

Meghan and Curtis are dedicated cottagers, and were married on the best cottage weekend of the year last summer on the Georgian Bay waterfront at Thornbury’s Lora Bay.

At our first shoot together, they described themselves as active surfers, skiers, and general outdoor enthusiasts, they were about to move from Toronto to Collingwood together to step into the active outdoor lifestyle the area allows, and I knew we would have a great time working together immediately!  They were looking for very relaxed, candid shots of their wedding day, with a focus on time spent with all their guests who they valued immensely, and their wonderful family who were all present for the day.

It was evident from the moment I met the bridesmaids and groomsmen in the morning that it was going to be a fun day, and I would have an easy job photographing everybody having a great time.  Meghan and Curtis were the perfect relaxed bride and groom, making sure their loved ones were appreciated all day, ensuring they showed everyone the best time possible, and valuing every moment they got to spend with family and friends from all over the world.  They are a true reminder of what a wedding day can be all about, and I was lucky to spend the day photographing the genuine joy and love they had overflowing for everyone present.

Take a look through the photographs below for the sweetest canine groomsman in a bow tie, a gorgeous ceremony backdrop overlooking Georgian Bay, and a bride and groom thoroughly enjoying and living every minute of their wedding day together.

Sneak Peek: Amena & Adam's Toronto Waterfront Wedding (on a boat!)

I haven't blogged in ages, my usual commitment to 'blog every week' generally only lasts a week. Ah, well.  My excuse is that it's editing season, I'm almost finished and ready to create more blog posts though!  In the meantime, I absolutely had to share some photographs from this amazing waterfront wedding I photographed in September.  When I say waterfront, I mean surrounded by water. Amena and Adam chose to get married on a boat!  More precisely, a beautiful old riverboat operated by Mariposa at the Toronto Harbourfront Center.  It.was.amazing.  I'll save most of the cool details for a longer post coming up this winter, but in the meantime scroll through for some sneak peeks and possible wedding inspiration.  Highlights include: the cutest first look ever, a beautiful jacket with a quote from Star Trek written across the back in gold calligraphy, boats, water, and all things cool, a special chocolate delivery by sailboat, and the most delicious wedding cake of all time.

To any couples considering getting married on a boat, after this wedding I would highly recommend it!  Also please hire me to photograph everything for you, if I could specialize in boat weddings now I completely would.

A Branding Shoot With Leaf & Bloom

Jaimie and I spent the day at her farm foraging, styling, and taking photographs to help her with the re-brand of her business, Leaf and Bloom.  Jaimie is a passionate florist with an eye for wild arrangements, incredible blooms, and unique bridal bouquets.  I had the pleasure of getting to know her at first when I photographed a wedding she created the floral work for.  Needless to say, it was spectacular; and when I shared the photographs with her I just had to mention that I would love to work with her again!

I was so excited a few months later when I received an email that she was re-branding her Toronto based floral company and needed some new photographs for her website and social media accounts.  This was one of my first forays into the world of small business branding photography, and it's quickly become work that I feel very passionate about and hope to do much more of in the coming years.

I shot a mixture of film and digital work throughout the day as Jaimie created stunning bouquet arrangements, styled delicate boutonnieres, and put together a beautiful tablescape despite the wild wind we were working with that day.  Her dogs roamed the farm around us, quietly becoming part of many of our shots, and we finished the day sitting on the back porch chatting about life and business as the sun finished setting.  Since then I've been hooked on branding photography and working closely with other entrepreneurs to craft photographs unique to their business.

I truly can't recommend Jaimie's work enough.  In addition to being the most lovely woman to work with, her floral styling work is absolutely stunning, and I always look forward to our next styled shoot together!

Take a look at her Website and Instagram account here to see more lovely work from Leaf and Bloom.
